Share the Load:  A surge that scores as soon as a second friendly fighter moves onto a feature token. Hostile Takeover : Scores after making two or more attacks that aren’t part of a Charge. Countdown to Cataclysm - Deck Review

Image
NEW VERSION Countdown to Cataclysm  is a  mastery  deck, which means adding complexity to your game. As the countdown ticks down to cataclysm this deck boosts in power. If you are looking for a deck to add extra layers to your primary playstyle, this is the deck for you. In this breakdown, I’ll run through how the deck plays, the general theme of its objectives, and a few key cards that stand out. Along the way I will add some of my thoughts on its strengths, weaknesses, and how best to pilot it. Objectives - Building towards Cataclysm. The deck includes 12 objectives: 6 surges and 6 end-phase cards, totalling 16 potential glory.  Eight cards score for 1 glory, three score 2 glory and one scores 1 or 2 glory depending on the countdown position. The deck does not have a particular scoring theme but does benefit from occupying Treasure tokens. A few objective highlights: Spread Havoc  – The longer you wait, the more you score and there is no way for your op...

Blazing Assault - Deck Review

Image
NEW VERSION Blazing Assault  is a straight-to-the-point, no-nonsense Strike Rivals deck built for aggressive play. If you're looking to fight your way to victory with sheer determination and sharp blades, in a manner that will make Khorne turn his gaze upon you, this is the deck for you. In this breakdown, I’ll run through how the deck plays, the general theme of its objectives, and a few key cards that stand out. Along the way I will add some of my thoughts on its strengths, weaknesses, and how best to pilot it. Objectives - Blood for the Blood God! The deck includes 12 objectives: 6 surges and 6 end-phase cards, totalling 16 potential glory. Of these, 11 are worth just 1 glory each, with  Annihilation  offering a chunky 5 glory if you manage to take out the entire enemy warband. This low-glory ceiling may sound underwhelming at first, but it fits the Strike archetype perfectly—rewarding consistent, forward momentum rather than big flashy plays. If you’re hitting ha...

Emberstone Sentinels - Deck Review

Image
NEW VERSION The Emberstone Sentinels Rivals deck for Warhammer Underworlds is a deck focused on the Take and Hold playstyle. It rewards positional play, careful movement, and an ability to stick to remain on Treasure tokens. This makes it a slower-paced, but thoughtful deck that rewards players who can outmanoeuvre their opponents and maintain presence on objective hexes. It is not about eliminating your opponent.  Objectives – Hold Your Ground The deck contains the usual 12 objectives: 6 surges and 6 end-phase cards, with a total potential of 16 glory. Nine cards score for 1 glory, two score 2 glory and one scores 3 glory. The deck is about building towards consistency rather than big moments. Stand-out Objectives include: Sally Forth:  Score for making a Charge action onto a treasure token. Nice and easy early-game tick. Unassailable:  Your opponent is going to try and knock you off Treasure tokens. Nothing is better in Underworlds than when you score glory for ...

Reckless Fury - Deck Review

Image
OLD VERSION Introduction Unleash unrelenting aggression with the Reckless Fury Rivals deck, a high-risk, high-reward playstyle designed for those who thrive in the heat of battle. This deck is all about relentless charges, brutal attacks, and an all-or-nothing approach to victory. Playstyle: Strike Plot card: No The Objectives The Objective deck is made up of 12 cards, 6 Surges and 6 End Phase for a total of 16 Glory. 1. Aim for the Top - End Phase - Glory 1  Score if the total Bounty of slain and/or damaged enemy fighters is four or more.  A relatively easy card to score, especially against more elite warbands. Simply deal out some damage but remember to spread it around. Later in the game, I tend to find I have scored this card as soon as I draw it (of course I have to wait until the End Phase to claim the Glory). The main downsides are that it is only 1 Glory and in the first Round it can be a little dice dependent, as you need some luck to deal the damage, especially aga...
