Aeronautica Imperialis - Faction Review - Aeldari - Asuryani - Wave Two

Image
When the Aeldari were initially release for Aeronautica Imperialis, they arrived in the Wrath of Angels box set. As per usual, the rulebook in the box set gave the rules for the aircraft for the miniatures included. I then proceeded to buy the Aeldari Aircraft and Aces card pack expecting to see more aircraft, but to my surprise it did not have the rules for the Vampire Raider or the Vampire Hunter. These aircraft had had rules in the original Forge World 1st Edition rules. So where were they for 2nd edition? The answer is they were still incoming, but they are here now.  More of my  Aeronautica articles   can be found here . Aeldari Overview  The addition of these four new aircraft (the Vampire Hunter, Vampire Raider, Nightshade Interceptor, and the Hemlock Wraithfighter) have not changed the overall playstyle of the Asyurani. They are still fast, manoeuvrable, and hard-hitting, but lack the durability to enter a straightforward toe to toe dogfight. The must ...

How I paint - Aeronautica Imperialis - Necron Fighters

Image
I have collected the Necrons in Warhammer 40k, since the 3rd Edition of the game, and the first time they received their own codex (back in 2002!). I have a relatively, large army (around 3500pts), painted up in the classic silver metal, with green glow of what is now, the Sautehk Dynasty. I want to carry this classic Necron paint scheme through to my Aeronautica Imperialis Necrons. This is my guide to ‘How I paint Necrons for Aeronautica.’.  For this guide I have used a Doom Scythe from Forge World. Here is the link to my  Necron faction review. More of my  Aeronautica articles can be found here. More of my  How I paint. .. can be found here. Aeronautica Imperialis - Faction Review - Aeldari - Asuryani

Image
Aeronautica Imperialis is back for a third year with the Wrath of Angels box set and I cannot wait. I love this game. I love the idea of aerial combat; the miniatures are gorgeous and now we have two more playable forces. This I think is the most crucial point about this third year's release: two more playable factions, the Aeldari and the Space Marines (Adeptus Astartes). The Aeldari Asuryani (or as they were previously known, the Eldar) are one of the original races from Warhammer 40,000. In essence, they are space elves. This means, they should be fast manoeuvrable and skilled at range. They should also crumple if hit, then again, they should be hard to hit due to their heretical xenos technology. How does this compare to their actual stats in the game? Within this article are some examples of aircraft with weapon loadouts. Each loadout provides the average amount of damage the aircraft can cause in a single round of firing.  Faction review links: Imperial Navy Orks Tau Empire A...

Aeronautica Imperialis - Faction Review - Space Marines

This I think is the most crucial point about this third year's release: two more playable factions, the Aeldari and the Space Marines (Adeptus Astartes). The marines could draw a lot of new blood into the game, which can only benefit existing players. The Adeptus Astartes (or as they were previously known the Space Marines) are the most iconic faction in Warhammer 40,000. They are known for their ability in a short-ranged firefight and durability. Let us see how this plays out in this game.  Faction review links: Imperial Navy Orks Tau Empire Aeldari Adeptus Astarte (Space Marines) Necron More of my  Aeronautica articles   can be found here.
