Warhammer Underworlds - Harrowdeep warbands

Checkout my Warhammer Underworlds - Contents Page for more articles.

For the start of Warhammer Underworlds' fifth season our intrepid warbands are descending beneath the waves of the Shadowseas of the Umbral Veil in the Realm of Ulgu. Harrowdeep is a cavernous labyrinthe beneath the seabed of the Shadowsea constructed by Shadow Daemons using Shadow magic. The warbands trapped within Harrowdeep have but one choice to escape the labyrinth is to delve deeper into the maze.

On a side note this has to be my favourite season, as I like all the warbands.

 Xandire's Truthseekers

Grand Alliance: Order (Stormcast Eternals)

Number of fighters: 4 (Total of 14 wounds)

Access to magic: One level 1 wizard

Top Cards

    • Banish the Dark
    • Blaze of Glory
    • Brave the Darkness
  • Gambits:
    • Advance as One

    • Unfaltering Stride

Play Style: Aggro

Playing against: Avoid killing any fighter outright to prevent them inspiring. Killing Stormrider will prevent Taros from inspiring. The Truthseekers struggle with accuracy when uninspired.

Xandire's Truthseekers are a group of Stormcast Eternals and their faithful Aetherwing Companion. Each of the Stormcast warriors are accurate fighters who deal good damage. The warband all inspire upon the death of one of the Stormcast. Upon inspiration each fighter gains a boost in defence and bonus to their attacks. Stormrider most significantly gains from inspiration. The main weakness of the warband is their lack of speed and a relatively low scoring objective deck.

Back in my Warhammer Fantasy Battle tournament days, I always ran a zombie horde led by a Necrach vampire, maybe it is time I try that again. When painting these miniatures I did not want a uniform appearance. Equally, I need them to look part of the same warband, to this end the zombie flesh and bases tie the warband together. How I Paint Zombie Flesh.

The Exiled Dead

Blackpowder's Buccaneers

Grand Alliance: Destruction (Ogor Mawtribe)

Number of Fighters: 5

My third warband for Harrowdeep is Blackpowder's Buccaneers. An Ogor Maneater and his motley crew of gnoblers and beasties mates. I love the miniatures but the warband appears subpar in the game. The warband relies too much on Blackpowder, who has a ranged attack that needs counters earned during the game to use. The rest of the warband are just too fragile and haemorrhage Glory to your opponent. A shame, but maybe one day I will have the skill to pilot these pirates. How I Paint Gnoblar.

Da' Kunnin' Krew

Grand Alliance: Destruction (Orruk Kruleboyz)

Number of Fighters: 5

The final warband for Harrowdeep are the Kunnin' Krew a group of Orruk Kruleboyz. These orruks and grots hail from the swampy regions of the Mortal Realms, as such I wanted them to be painted in brown tones and aged iron.
