As October arrived, the new season of Warhammer Underworlds, Deathgorge, was released. I immediately preordered the boxset and as a result purchased seven new miniatures. I now had a target number of miniatures to paint this month!

I started out by painting Dromm from the Gorechosen. He was then swiftly followed by Skullgrinder Herax. Many months earlier I had painted the Gorehulk so I had now finished the warband. When painting this warband, I used my How I paint guides for both the Bloodletters and the Juggernauts of Khorne to provide the colours for the Gorehulk's skin and the metallics of the warband, respectively. With this warband, I could tick off  'Paint a Warhammer Underworlds warband'.

While I was waiting for my copy of Deathgorge to arrive, I built and started painting Hexbane's Hunters. I began with Grotbiter and Ratspike, the trailhounds (I even made a little painting guide How I paint - Trailhounds). Then I moved onto Amos and Quiet Pock. I painted these miniatures in neutral greens and browns, with a slight nod to my old Stirland, Empire army. At this point Deathgorge arrived.

Upon opening the Deathgorge boxset, I immediately set about building the Thricecursed Discord, a trio of Slaaneshi Daemons. I started by painting Vexmor, the leader of the warband. I used my How I paint Daemonettes of Slaanesh guide as my starting point. I then aimed to make them match my Dread Pageant from Direchasm, by using plenty of pastel colours. Then I moved onto Vashtiss the Coiled before finishing with Lascivyr, the Bladed Blessing. I had now completed my second warband for the month.

Thricecursed Discord

With the Thricecursed Discord complete, I returned to Hexbane's Hunter. Having finished four members of the warband already, I painted up Bridget leaving just Hexbane. The final miniature for October was Haskel Hexbane. I decided with this miniature to attempt a little Object Source Lighting. I was quite nervous attempting this technique, I did not want to mess up my leader. This allowed me to finish my THIRD warband for the month!

Hexbane's Hunters

In October, I bought seven miniatures and painted eleven more miniatures, so, I've painted a total of 109 miniatures this year, with 73 of them from the Warhammer Underworlds range.  That makes 15 warbands for the year. In addition, I could tick off another Hobby Goal 'Paint more miniatures in a month than I bought'. Overall, October has been a good productive month, however, I tend to slow down during November and December. Hopefully, I can get I can finish off one more warbands this year, for a total of sixteen warbands (two year's worth).

That's it for my painting updates this month. I'd love to hear about your painting projects, so please leave a comment below. Happy painting!
