April '23                                                                                                     June '23

In the month of May, there were some exciting developments in my Warhammer Underworlds journey. One of the highlights was the release of Wyrdhollow, which I eagerly pre-ordered. As a result, I ended up purchasing eight new miniatures this month. To maintain my personal goal of "Painting more miniatures in a month than are bought," I now have the task of painting at least nine miniatures in June.

Last month, I completed painting Draknar from the Despoilers. I then shifted my focus to the four Ungor miniatures in the warband. To bring their fur and flesh to life, I followed my trusty "How I Paint Gors" guide.

After finishing the Ungor miniatures, I tackled the leader of the Despoilers, Grashrak himself. This marked a significant milestone as I could proudly check off "Paint a Warhammer Underworlds warband" and celebrate the completion of all the Beastgrave warbands.

With the Despoilers behind me, I decided to embark on painting the Exiled Dead, yet another captivating Warhammer Underworlds warband. Starting with the zombies and Prentice Markov, I sought inspiration from various online guides, including the invaluable insights from Duncan Rhodes. I successfully painted Coyl, Bault, Prentice Marcov, Vlash, and Ione, following the helpful "How I Paint Zombie Flesh" guide. To my surprise, I even managed to finish Regulus and Deintalos the Exile, although it wasn't originally my intention for this month. Consequently, I proudly checked off warband number two from my list.

Having completed a total of 12 miniatures (while acquiring 8), I decided to take on the challenge of painting two Stormcast warbands. These miniatures are larger in size and boast intricate details, requiring more time and attention to paint. My strategy was to get a head start for the coming month. I began by working on the armor, cloaks, and robes of Xandire's Truthseekers and Domitan's Stormcoven. After finishing the basecoats on these six miniatures, I focused on completing the Truthseekers, as I planned to use them in an upcoming tournament. Successfully painting Xandire's Truthseekers allowed me to check off "Paint a Warhammer Underworlds warband" for the third time this month.

To summarize, in May alone, I managed to paint an impressive total of 16 miniatures, while also purchasing 8 new ones. This continual progress has significantly reduced the size of my unpainted plastic pile. Throughout this year, I have already painted a grand total of 72 miniatures, with 36 of them belonging to the Warhammer Underworlds range.

Looking ahead to the upcoming month, I am excited to continue painting my Warhammer Underworlds warbands. Feel free to drop me a message in the comments below—I would love to hear from you. Until next time!
