Kill Team - Meet the Squad -Tyranids of Beta Anphelion

Of all the armies in Warhammer 40,000, the Tyranids are my favourite. I have played them for the last three decades in various forms. I even had a Tyranid army for Epic and I am hoping to see them in Aeronautica Imperialis, in the not-too-distant future. My Tyranid army for 40k is relatively large but it has been a few years since I last used it. I have however recently been painting up a few miniatures to provide options for Kill Team.

My Tyranid army is built around the forces 'captured' and 'held' in the Ordo Xenos research station of Beta Anphelion. They will also be used as my opposition for my Catachan Kill Team.

Tyranid Warrior Fire Team

Tyranid Warrior (Leader)

The alpha beast for my Kill Team will be Tyranid Warrior leader. It is equipped
with rending claws, a lash whip, and a bone sword.

I have also equipped the miniature with Extended Carapace, Adrenal Glands,
and Toxins Sacs. These upgrades could be purchased from my Equipment Points.

Tyranid Warrior (Fighter)

To provide additional close support for my leader beast, I have a second
Tyranid Warrior armed for close combat. This Warrior is equipped with bone swords
and scything talons.

As with the leader, I have equipped this miniature with Adrenal Glands
and Toxin sacs. These upgrades could be purchased from my Equipment Points.

Tyranid Warrior (Heavy Gunner)

The final warrior in the trio brings long-ranged, heavy firepower in the form of a Venom Cannon. It is also equipped with Scything Talons.

The miniature is modelled with Adrenal Glands and Toxins Sacs.

Tyranid Swarm Fire Team

Termagants

To back up my Tyranid Warriors and add numbers to my Kill Team, I have a group of four Termagants with fleshborers and Termagants with spinefists. These miniatures also have Adrenal Glands and Toxin sacs. I am unlikely to equip the Termagants with these upgrades, but they help to solidify the look of the force.

Hormagaunts

The Tyranid Swarm also includes a couple of Hormagaunts with scything talons. Their purpose is to provide the close combat Tyranid Warriors with additional support and to distract enemy firepower.

Tyranid Genestealer Fire Team

I also have a good range of Genestealers, from which I can build a second Kill Team. These have been 'armed' with a mixture of scything talons and rending claws or double rending claws.

I have also painted a couple of Genestealers with the acid maw upgrade.

In addition, I have painted a few Genestealers with the Ymgarl feeder tentacle
heads.

Together these miniatures provide me with a good range of options from
which I can build a range of kill teams.

either:

  • Tyranid warrior fire team with a Tyranid Swarm fire team.

  • Tyranid warrior fire team with a Genestealer fire team.

  • Two Genestealer fire teams.

  • Genestealer fire team with a Tyranid Swarm fire team (the least likely).
